Strawberry Hill Garden
A project in Strawberry Hill with scope to bring in new and exciting array of plants to give something interesting at every angle. The front garden was originally two scrappy patches of lawn and a few old shrubs and was transformed into an exotic garden a plantsman would be proud of.
An old box plant 6ft tall and about 5ft wide stood on the corner over the path blocking access and visibility making it a bit of security hazard. Half of this was patchy and diseased. Not wanting to remove a mature plant of this nature we began removing the bad parts to reveal a perfect trunk in the middle. An hour or two later a perfect 6ft topiary mushroom stood as a statement piece in the front garden matching the clients eclectic style which was emphasised with unusual plants of various fashions. Estimates on the price of topiary this size exceed £3,000. Not bad for 2 hours work and a bit of vision.
Other interesting plants added included Fabian imbricata with vertical accents, Feijoa sellowiana with exotic red & white flowers and Paeonia suffruticosa ‘Yachiyo-tsubaki with huge flowers consisting of light pink papery petals.
